Solutran Kicks Off EBT Payment Processing for Wyoming WIC

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --(Marketwired - March 29, 2016) -  Solutran is pleased to announce it has started processing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) payments for the Wyoming Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Wyoming WIC has implemented the company's Smart Card EBT solution and started processing transactions earlier this month.

Wyoming selected Solutran as its provider of a long-term EBT solution to transition from its in-house system, which was the first statewide offline EBT system created nearly 15 years ago.

"The goal of migrating to an external EBT system was to utilize the best technology to provide a more reliable, long-term solution for supporting the families we serve," said Janet Moran, Wyoming WIC Program Manager. "The commitment and dedication to customer service that Solutran delivered throughout the project, as well as the hard work of our WIC staff, made this a reality."

Supported on the advanced technology S3 EBT platform, the Solutran Smart Card EBT is a system designed with an understanding of WIC programs and the current needs of an ever-evolving industry including a simple shopping experience for families and faster payment method for the programs retailers.

"We feel honored to provide our Smart Card EBT solution to the program that founded the first offline WIC EBT system," said Barry Nordstrand, CEO of Solutran. "We look forward to taking the next step into the future of EBT with Wyoming."

Wyoming's WIC Program provides nutrition education, basic health services, and nutritious food benefits to low-income pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five who are at nutritional risk. The program provides services for its participants at 36 program locations throughout the state.

Solutran has provided processing support for WIC programs since 1989, and serves 65 state and Inter-Tribal Organizations (ITO's) WIC programs across the country. Solutran has developed an EBT Smart Card solution and an EBT online solution, both of which are available to WIC programs as they transition to electronic payments.
